Bean: “Mama, does Santa have claws?”
Me (stumped): “Well, uh, no. His last name is Claus, just like our last name is C… But, Santa certainly doesn’t have claws.”

How old is Bean?
I taught my 4-y-o the word “homonym” this summer. She’s really into sight-reading, so I’ve been teaching her the visual difference between several sets that sound the same.
Roc (the mythic giant bird) and rock, then knight and night were her first. It’s been surprisingly useful. And revealing of our reading choices.
